About Me
Hello! My name is Jilleen (pronounced Jill - Lean).
Why I do this work:
I have personally struggled with having to adjust my lifestyle and my expectations after having family members who have been diagnosed with various complicated diagnoses. I know how hard it can be to be taking care of so many others that you nearly lose yourself. I have found it useful in my life to work with a therapist to help me learn to better manage my emotions and reach a place of acceptance. I love working with all ages and types of people who find themselves stuck in their current life situations.
Experience and Training:
I have over 20 years of experience working with children, families, and individuals in a variety of ways. I received my Masters In Social Work from the University of Washington, with a Clinical/Contextual focus. Being a Social Worker, I am trained to look at people in the context of their environment and to value each individual and their strengths. I have extensive experience working with people in crisis, and I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I have worked with individuals and families from diverse background and in a variety of settings, including:
Teen Drug Court
Domestic Violence Agency/Shelter
Home Based Mental Health Services for Adults and Children
Home Based Family Preservation Services
Child Welfare
Hospital Setting
Assisted Living and Memory Care
How I work:
I utilize a variety of evidence-based methods in working with my clients, tailoring my approach to the specific needs of each client and her or his situation. I value the understanding of how our nervous system is related to our emotions and the ability to regulate our emotions. While the specific approaches may vary, I believe in identifying and building upon the strengths and successes of each of my clients.
